Force Feedback (FFB) issues are among the most common problems reported in Le Mans Ultimate. This guide covers the most frequent causes and fixes.

Known Issue: FFB in Version 1.3

We are aware of an FFB filtering issue introduced in the 1.3 update that is affecting some players - particularly excessive oscillation on certain cars. Our team is actively investigating. In the meantime, we have a test build available via Steam's pub-share beta system with alternative input filtering that may help.

What the test build does: This build changes the input filtering which includes various fixes. In our tests it showed a reduction in excessive oscillation on certain cars. Try it with caution - we recommend testing offline first. The Duqueine is the main known problem car on this build; we would not recommend running it.

If you find this build better (or worse), please send us a support ticket with your hardware information and telemetry recordings from the main build and this test build using the same car, track, and conditions. Do not use any third-party FFB tools when comparing builds.

To opt in:

  1. Right-click Le Mans Ultimate in Steam and select Properties
  2. Go to Game Versions and Betas
  3. Enter the access code: rNZ553qE8gWd
  4. Click Check Code and opt in to the pub-share branch

Only opt in if you are experiencing the FFB oscillation issues described above. See the 1.3 Update Support Hub for further status updates.

Temporary FFB Loss When Other Players Join

It is a known issue that when another player joins a practice server you are already on, you may experience a brief loss of FFB. This is temporary and will restore itself.

FFB Has Completely Stopped Working

  1. Use the Reset FFB button. Map a button to "Reset FFB" in Settings > Controls, then press it during a session. This clears temporary FFB states without restarting.
  2. Restart the game fully. Exit to desktop - not just to the main menu - and relaunch.
  3. Reinstall your wheel software and firmware. Uninstall your manufacturer's software completely, reboot, then reinstall the latest version. This resolves most persistent FFB loss after updates.
  4. Check in-game FFB settings. Go to Settings > Controls > Force Feedback. Confirm your FFB multiplier isn't at zero and that the correct wheel profile is loaded.
  5. Verify game files in Steam. Right-click Le Mans Ultimate > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.

FFB Spikes or Random Jolts

  • Reduce the FFB Smoothing or Minimum Torque settings in Settings > Controls > Force Feedback - these can amplify small inputs into spikes on some wheel bases.
  • Some wheel bases (particularly high-torque direct drive units) are sensitive to in-game FFB multiplier settings. Try reducing the in-game FFB to 50-70% and increasing force from your wheel's own software instead.
  • Check that your wheel firmware is up to date - FFB spike behaviour often improves with manufacturer firmware patches.

Wheel-Specific Known Issues

  • Thrustmaster (TMX, T818, T248, T150, T300RS) - Wheels can disconnect or lose FFB after multiple sessions. A full reinstall of Thrustmaster software and firmware typically resolves this.
  • Fanatec GT DD Pro - Assigning "Brake Migration Forward" or "Brake Bias Forward" to a wheel button causes it to fire repeatedly, which can interfere with FFB state. Reassign or clear those bindings.
  • Logitech wheels - If the wheel pulls hard to one side with no FFB variation, enable "Constant Steering Force" in settings.

A Note on Haptics

Haptics (Settings > Controls > Haptics) are an additional layer of vibration effects layered on top of FFB - kerb rumble, tyre slip feedback, etc. They are separate from Force Feedback. If your FFB feels reduced but haptics are strong, check both settings independently. Haptics are a matter of personal preference - some drivers find them useful, others prefer to disable them entirely.

Still Not Fixed?

Submit a support ticket with your wheel make and model, the exact symptoms, steps you've already tried, and a trace file from Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log.
