A disqualification (DQ) in Le Mans Ultimate removes you from the race results and can affect your Safety Rank (SR). Here's what triggers one and what to do if you think it was wrong.
Formation Lap Violations
The most common cause of a DQ is breaking formation lap rules before the race has started. The formation lap has strict requirements - see Race Starts for a full breakdown. The key rules:
- Stay in your grid position. Keep your car in the green guide on the track and follow the car ahead. Do not move out of line.
- No weaving. Erratic steering movements during the formation lap can trigger a DQ.
- Respect the speed limit. The formation lap has a speed cap. Exceeding it will result in a DQ.
- No overtaking. Do not pass any car ahead of you during the formation lap. Wait for the race start.
- Keep inputs smooth. Excessive throttle or braking that disrupts the formation can be penalised.
If your row hasn't moved yet, wait - your controls may be disabled until the rows ahead clear. This is normal.
Driving the Wrong Way
Driving against the direction of the circuit - whether after a spin, cutting across the track, or joining from the pits in the wrong direction - will result in an automatic DQ. If you spin or go off, wait for a safe gap and rejoin in the correct direction, even if it takes longer.
Track Limit Violations
Most track limit violations result in a warning, a stop/go, or a drive-through penalty - not a DQ. A DQ from track limits is reserved for particularly severe or deliberate cuts. If you receive warnings, take them seriously and adjust, but a single violation will not normally end your race.
I Was DQ'd But I Didn't Do Anything Wrong
Occasionally a DQ can occur due to a game issue rather than a rule violation - particularly during the formation lap if there is a sync or connection problem. If you believe your DQ was unwarranted:
- Locate your trace file at
Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log- for exampletrace_2026_04_10_18_30_00 - Note the exact date and time of the session
- Submit a support ticket with the trace file attached and a description of what happened
A video clip of the incident is also helpful if you have it.
Note: We will always investigate but race results and DR/SR are not reinstated. Submitting a ticket helps us identify bugs and improve the simulation.
