To change a driver during a race - you can select your other drivers within the ‘Driver’ pitstop MFD toggle. You will only be able to select other drivers who are on the server.
Engineers & team mates will be able to see when the current driver is pitting
When you enter the pits for the driver swap - you & your team mate will be shown a countdown to taking control in the live timing menu

The game will exit you from the car automatically and switch drivers
